Qualifications:

• Virginia Certified Sign Language Interpreter
• Eligible for pending licensures or state reciprocity
• Bachelors or Masters degree in education or a related field
• Preferred endorsement in Special Education or Special Education Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Pre-K 12)
• Three years of successful teaching experience with varied age groups and disabilities
• Strong understanding of academic language and abstract thinking

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Serve as a sole interpreter for students in ASL, fostering effective communication and learning.
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with educational staff.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual needs.
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
• Travel to multiple locations as assigned, adapting to the needs of students throughout the day.
