Position Summary:
Are you ready to embark on a journey into the world of fruit-based food and beverage innovation? Join our team as a Technical Writing Intern. You'll have the chance, with support, to own and lead technical writing projects that support the long term and strategic goals of our facility and Lawton, Michigan, and the Welch's organization more broadly.

Where You'll Work:
This is a full-time, on-site internship position, based out of our manufacturing facility in Lawton, Michigan. Candidates must reside within reasonable commutable distance to the site. Welch's is unable to provide relocation assistance for internship positions at this time. This internship is being offered for the Summer of 2025. It will run approximately 10-12 weeks. Exact start and end dates will depend on the successful candidate's individual academic calendar.

What You'll Do:
• Assist in creating and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, production, and other cross functional teams to gather the necessary technical information, informing the content of the written materials referenced above.
• Translate complex manufacturing processes into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
• Ensure documentation complies with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP).
• Participate in audits and help prepare documentation for inspections.
• Edit and proofread existing technical documents to improve clarity, consistency, and formatting.
• Help maintain a centralized document control system and version tracking.
• Observe plant operations to better understand processes and ensure accurate documentation.
• Gather feedback from subject matter experts (SMEs) to revise and refine documents.
• Support content management systems (CMS) or digital platforms used for document storage and access.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to project updates and communication planning.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Who You Are:
• A driven, ambitious individual eager to grow within a smaller organization and learn through hands-on experience.
• Interested in learning more about, and immersing yourself in the food and beverage and consumer packaged goods industries.
• A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative, inclusive culture and is open to new ideas and creativity.

What You'll Need:
• Currently pursuing an academic program in Communications, Technical Writing, or related discipline.
• Experience in Food and Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods is a plus, but not a requirement!
